Nathalie Knox Nathalie Knox (Burris) of Assiniboia, SK, passed away, with family at her side, January 2, 2019 at age 91 years. She was born January 7, 1927 at Pruitt City, Oklahoma, also known as the heart of the dust bowl. Her father worked on the oil rigs for many years so they were always moving. As they travelled by car, she was allowed her favourite doll and blanket, her bible, and clothes. In 1954 her father came to Canada to work on oil rigs in the Assiniboia areas. They lived in the trailer court in Assiniboia and he commuted. Nathalie met Dad (James Knox) at a dance and it was love at first sight. When Nathalie’s dad’s work visa had expired, he had to return to the United States. Nathalie and James were married May 31, 1954. They moved to the Knox family farm and raised their three children. In 1977 they sold and moved to Assiniboia. In 1982 they purchased the Prairie Oasis Motel in Carlyle, SK. From there she moved several times in Saskatchewan and to Flin Flon, Manitoba, going to look after her father and step-mother at Pearblossom, California, returning to Assiniboia in 1996. Nathalie was an avid sports fan. She watched every sport on T.V. but her all-time favourite was the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. She had season tickets for many years and never missed a game, even in her later years she attended a game now and then. She was involved in many activities in church and community. She liked to travel, read and crotchet. Nathalie had an interest in the activities her children and grandchildren participated in, whether it was swimming lessons, baseball and dancing. She was always so proud of her families’ accomplishments and attended everything possible when able. Nathalie is predeceased by her parents Dona and Floyd Burris, brother Orville (FoyDell), husband James in 1998, infant daughter Debarah Theresa ‘Terry’ in 1960, daughter Donna Rachel ‘Ricky’ Taylor in 1983, son Mark David in 2013, son-in-law Terry Taylor in 1983, infant grandson Keona Knox in 2005. She is survived by two children, Jim (Kathy) Knox and Chrystal (Garth) Schneck, daughter-in-law Kalani (Michael) Young; nine grandchildren: Teresa (Tim) Valentine, Michael (Ang) Taylor, Robert (Michelle) Knox, Tabatha (Trevor) Bodie, Melissa (Elden) Hemauer, Kathy-Sue Taylor (Ron), William Schneck, David (Ashley) Schneck, Nichole Schneck (Nathan Hewlett); 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Apostolic Church, Assiniboia, SK with Pastor Terry Severson officiating. Tributes were presented by grandchildren. Music ministry was led by the Worship Team. Honourary and Acting Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK with Pastor Robert Scott officiating.
