Ann Marie Buckingham

Ann Buckingham passed peacefully in the arms of her husband and the presence of those she loved on September 5, 2019. Heaven is a brighter place with her presence. Ann was born on August 4, 1946. She was a hardworking wife, mother, Nana/Ahmi, tailor, chef, artist, volunteer, and friend. Having moved to Auburn in 1973 she began a lifelong commitment to bettering the community in which she lived. Beginning at Bowman School, Ann participated in the PTO, volunteered to coordinate school events, and with the help of a friend, created the School Library. Fostering her children’s love for sports and other activities she assumed roles in Auburn Robalos Swim Team, Auburn Youth Soccer, Auburn Ski Club and Ski Team, Girl Scouts, local parades and community fairs. Thanks to her creative talents her gardens were always beautiful and bountiful, and her children and grandchildren always had amazing Halloween costumes. Ann cherished her family, her wonderful friends Sharon, Ruth and Sue, the Sierra Lab gang, dogs, gardens and her adventurous grandkids. Ann had a deep love for wildlife and volunteered with the Gold Country Wildlife Rescue Organization where she nursed sick and injured birds back to health then returned them to their natural habitat. Ann and her husband Lee met in High School in Menlo Park, CA and married in 1965. Over the course of their 59 years together Ann and Lee had two children and five grandchildren. Ann is survived by her husband Lee Buckingham, Daughter and Son-in-Law Kris and Jeff Belk, Granddaughters Chloe and Delaney Belk, Son and Daughter-in-Law Jason and Valarie Buckingham, and Grandchildren Kieran, Addison, and Marlie Buckingham and Brother and Sister-in-Law Robert and Wendy Chapler. As much as Ann liked to make others feel special, she requested no service. Honoring her wishes, the family will be holding a private gathering to share in the blessing that she was to all of us.
