Edward Joseph Lentz “Ed” was called home to his heavenly father at the age of 93 on October 7, 2019. Ed would be the first person to tell you that he lived a wonderful life full of love and adventure. Ed grew up in Royal Oak. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He served as crew chief on a C-46 cargo plane from 1944-1946 and flew with the 317th Squadron in Japan. After serving his country, Ed worked as a carpenter for over 40 years. He was a proud member of the UAW and retired from General Motors. In 1954, Ed met and married his first wife Joan. They were wed for 35 years. Joan preceded Ed to heaven in 1989. Ed was also preceded by his brother George, and sisters Dottie and Bette. Ed married his second wife Stella at Sacred Heart church. They were active members of the church where they volunteered with many services such as meals on wheels for over 20 years. Ed and Stella were happily married for 29 years. Ed is survived by a blended family of 11 children, 28 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.Ed’s family will welcome all for a visitation on Thursday October 10th from 3-8pm, with a scripture service at 6:30pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 3530 Auburn Rd. in Auburn Hills. A funeral mass will be held on Friday October 11th at 10am with instate at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 3400 S. Adams Rd, in Auburn Hills. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Waterford at 2pm.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s honor at www.smilenetwork.org/donate/. Envelopes will be provided at Pixley Funeral Home.
