Obituary of Jean Jenkins
Treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Jean Bernice Jenkins passed away peacefully in Brantford on June 7, 2019 in her 91st year. She is missed by children Patrick (Pamela) of Toronto, Mary (Steve) Runciman of Orangeville, Anne (Daniel) of Nanaimo, Brian (Barbara) of Brantford and Wayne (Chris) of Okotoks. Jean will be forever remembered by her grandchildren William (Erin), Annie (Quincy), Katie and Ruby (Marc); great-grandchildren Ava Mae and Wyatt; many nieces, nephews and their families. She is survived by her sister Patricia (John) MacKenzie of Antigonish and brother Francis (Brenda) White of Whiteside; cousins Gerald White (Susan) Grosse Pointe Park, MI and Paula Kyte (George) of Barra Head; and brother-in-law John (Marie) Campbell, of Sydney; sister-in-law Irene and brother-in-law Frank, both of Brantford. Jean was predeceased by husband Ivan Jenkins, sisters Marie Lynch Peacocke, Anita Hurd, Clare McArthur, Thelma Campbell, and parents Duncan Angus White and Mary Margaret (Cameron) White of Whiteside. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, Jean enjoyed a long life filled with curiosity and learning. As a teacher, she is fondly remembered by many children she taught, helping them thrive in their early elementary years. Jean also served as a volunteer for the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Brantford. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West St., on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 9 Waverly St., on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10am; cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Whiteside Church Preservation Society (St. Patrick’s Church), Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Association, would be appreciated.
