Peter Alden Moore

Peter “Archie” Moore, 75, of Bremerton passed-away on Friday, June 16, 2017. He passed peacefully at home after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Paula (Faoro) Moore; his daughters Karen (Moore) Fogg & her husband Andy of Portland, Oregon, and Teresa (Moore) Shetler & her husband Michael of Bremerton; his beloved granddaughters Madeline Shetler and Mia & Jane Fogg; brother Perry (Jean) Moore; and sister Cathy (Bill) Shamel. Peter was born and raised in Grand Lake Stream, Maine. Son to Lawrence “Pop”& Louise “Pip” Moore; older brother to Perry Moore and Cathy (Moore) Shamel. In his early years, Peter worked in and around the woods of Down East Maine for the logging companies. Spending time fishing the lakes in his “Pop Moore” canoe was his passion. After graduating from Woodland High School in 1960, he joined the United States Naval Submarine Service and set-off to explore the world. During his Navy career he served on the USS Bream (SS-243), USS Plaice (SS-390), USS Archerfish (SS-311), USS Grayback (SSG-574), USS Tang (SS -563), USS Aspro (SSN-648), USS Wahoo (SS -565), and the USS Sculpin (SSN 590). He met his loving wife, Paula, in Vallejo, California. They were later married in 1970. He and Paula lived in Hawaii, San Diego, Great Lakes, and finally settled in Bremerton with their daughters in 1975. Peter retired from the Navy in 1980 and went on to work for the Civil Service at both PSNS and NSB Bangor as an IC Electrician. He retired from TRF, shop 51 C in1999. Peter had a passion for the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting & exploring nature. He was a past member of the Kitsap Poggie Club, Northwest Steelheaders Association, and the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation. A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
