Dorothy Mae Green

If happiness can be achieved, it will be found in a job well done and in giving and not in receiving” _ Dr. Benjamin E. Mays Dorothy (Dot) M. Moses Green had a long history of productive and unselfish service. She was one of 7 children born to Joseph and Rebecca Moses in Bishopville, South Carolina. She attended Dennis High School in Bishopville. SC. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Bishopville, SC. After a while, she moved to Washington, DC, for better opportunities. She worked in various jobs in the hospitality (hotel) industry and St Ann Children Home. In those years at St Ann’s would provide the impetus for Dot’s life of service. She met and married the love of her life, Albert Green, whom she has been married to for 53 years. They had three beautiful daughters. After having her daughters, she felt that it was important to stay home with them and give them a loving and caring home. So she became a stay at home mom and a great cook. Her specialties were macaroni and cheese and greens, which would make your month water. Dot was a loving Wife, mother and friend. She loved to laugh and sing. Her favorite artist was Al Green, whom she took pictures with. Albert said it’s ok if she loved Al Green because she had two Al Greens to love. He said she lived with the most important AL GREEN. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rebecca Moses, a brother, Darryl, and two sisters, Ealease Bowe and Ann Rebecca Chambers and a special niece Patty Ann Thomas. Dot leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 53 years, Albert Green, her daughters, Antoinette (Edward) Lipford of Manassas, VA, Dymphenia Green and Camilla Green of Glen Burnie, MD. Seven Grandchildren, Jasmine, Roy, Joseph, Edward, Mitchell, Christine, and Aaron, and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Noah. Dot is also survived by her brother, Fletcher Moses of Washington, DC and two sisters, Shirley Moses of Glen Burnie, MD and Demetria Moses Thompson of Bishopville, SC. Two sisters-in-law, Edith Cromwell of Washington, DC and Alice Green of Forestville, MD, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends and a special niece, Eurana M. Burris
