Obituary of Mrs. Agata Taddei
Agata passed away peacefully at the age of 98 with her family by her side on April 12, 2018 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Agata was born in Poggio Picenze, L’Aquila, Italy on October 17, 1919. She married the love of her life, Domenico, in Poggio Picenze in 1946. Agata spent 32 years in Italy before she and her two small sons immigrated to Vancouver to join her husband, Domenico, who had emigrated 4 years earlier with his brother to establish a better life for their families in Canada. Agata’s mission was devoted to the care and welfare of her family and friends, and home. She (Nonna) was the glue that bonded the Taddei family together with stories, poems, Italian songs, jingles and prayers. Family gatherings were a circle of strength, founded on faith and joined in the love of Nonna’s favourite mealtime chant: “Ed un giorno ci reuniremo tutti insiemi nella casa paterna”. Agata is predeceased by her parents, Domenico and Lucia, her loving husband of 53 years, Domenico, and her 4 sisters: her twin, Elena, Antonina, Maria, Elvira and her brother Peter. Agata is blessed with 3 loving children and a daughter-in-law: Rubino (Margaret), Anthony and Maria. She is survived by 6 devoted grandchildren, Danielle (Scott), Johanna (Andy), Francesca (Jason), Robert (Ciara), Stephen (Nicole), and James (Yukari). She has 9 beautiful great grandchildren Joshua, Milo, Mattea, Liam, Sophie, Emma, Tobin, Maeve and Andrew. She is also survived by 2 loving sisters-in-law, Cesira and Clelia and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends remember with fondness a kind, loving, generous, and funny Nonna. She will be dearly missed and treasured in our hearts forever. We are grateful to the compassionate caregivers from Fraser Health, to Dr. Tobert and to the nursing staff and doctors at Surrey Memorial Hospital Acute Elder Care Unit for their excellent care and support during her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew’s Parish, 480 E. 47th Avenue, Vancouver on April 27, 2018 at 10:30AM. Entombment following mass will be at the Abbey Mausoleum in Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. A reception will follow entombment at Ocean View Funeral Home, in the Fireside Lounge. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
