Antonio De Siena

Beloved husband, father, and nonno peacefully passed away on May 8th, 2019 at the age of 92 years. Antonio was predeceased by his loving wife Maria, parents Alberto and Maria Antonia and sister Civita. He is survived by his loving family; children Albert (Milva), Tonia ( Guido): grandchildren Luca ( Nikki ), Dante, Justin, and Matthew, and great grandson Sebastiano Antonio; sisters Rosa ( Dino ), Cristina ( Felice ), Alba ( Rocco ), and brother Vincenzo; many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, Italy and the USA. Antonio came to Canada in July 1951 to make a better life for himself and in 1958 he married Maria and they started their family. He was an honest and hard worker and was always there to lend a helping hand. Antonio worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for 36 years before retiring in 1987 and started to enjoy a life of leisure which to him was travelling back to Italy 33 times with each trip lasting at least 2-3 months if not longer. He was happy when he was back in his home town of S. Andrea Del Garigliano seeing his family and friends. Family was important to Antonio and he would take any opportunity to have a family gathering which would always take place at his home. He was so happy and overjoyed when he became a grandfather, his grandsons meant the world to him and they loved Nonno immensely but when he was told he was to become a great grandfather that topped everything for him, for his legacy would continue. Antonio loved to tell stories of back in Italy, the war, coming to Canada or working on the railway. If a date or a specific year popped into his head or someone mentioned one, he could tell you exactly what happened on that day and what he was doing. Antonio protected his family during times of war, throughout his lifetime and continued to protect them until his last days. Antonio was the rock of the family and will be deeply missed by everyone. Viewing Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Bell Funeral Chapel 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi, 2025 Napier St., Vancouver, B.C., at 1:00 pm. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Abbey Mausoleum in Burnaby, B.C.. In Lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
