Bernice Matsal

Bernice Matsal passed away May 4, 2019 in Coquitlam at the age of 95. Born in Zelma, Saskatchewan on a farm, to John and Stefania Matsal. She left at the age of 18 to go to enlist in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Armed Forces) during which she traveled to all parts of Canada during her service. She was discharged on Dec 13, 1946. From there she returned to Saskatchewan, then moved to Vancouver and joined the Federal government in Customs, which she stayed with for over 35 years of service until she retired. During this time she travelled many times to Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. She loved to travel. Her garden was her one passion and she took pride in it to share with family and friends. She was a very strong and independent woman and took pride in everything she did. She leaves behind a loving family: Mary, sister; two nieces, Wendy Weisner (Kelly Weisner) & Debra Sekora; and Great nephew, Sean Siirila. She will be greatly missed by all. Rest in Peace Auntie Bernie. By request, no services will be held.
