Obituary of Mr. James Black
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our father, James Black. James was born to parents James and Ann Black (deceased) in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 1, 1926 and passed away September 25, 2019. Brothers John and David, sister Margaret (predeceased) and survived by sister Ann (Jake) and many loved nieces and nephews all of Scotland. He married the love of his life, Sarah Lorimer Campbell Wilkie on November 23, 1946 who predeceased him in 1994. He leaves his sons James (Patricia) and Brian (Susan) who cherish that they had a Dad that was kind, compassionate, hard-working, full of fun and always there for his family. He also leaves behind his very dearly beloved friend, Cecile Gerussi. We are grateful for the imprint that he had on our lives, his guidance and the love he shared with us all. Dad left Edinburgh, Scotland for Canada in 1957 with Sally and the two young boys. He worked for 50 years in the welding industry in Scotland and throughout British Columbia, finally becoming the Chief Instructor at BCIT. He formed many friendships along the way. He was a talented musician, singer, dancer and a brilliant billiards player. At any gathering he was always the first one up with a song in his beautiful Scottish tenor voice, while playing the accordion or piano, and singing his heart out. Always a gentleman but with a great sense of fun. He lived his life to the fullest. The family would like to thank the Madison Care Home for their kindness and great care of our father in the last few years. We are so grateful to our angel/nurse Vivi, nurses Fe and Sigrid along with the many care workers of 3 South for their excellent care of Dad. The funeral service will be held on October 19, 2019 at 1:30pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak, Burnaby. Flowers gratefully declined - donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
