Lorenzo Ernesto Crema

Lorenzo (Larry) Ernesto Crema April 21, 1931 – December 17, 2018 It is with heavy hearts and happy memories that we announce the passing of husband, father and nonno, Lorenzo (Larry) Crema, at the age of 87. Lorenzo leaves behind the love of his life, best friend and wife of 58 years, Mary, his five children and his nine grandchildren, Larry (Paola Netto, Francesca, Caterina), Kathryn (Grant Murray, Hannah, Nicholas), Lorraine (Todd Shewfelt, Matthew, Gabriel), Laura (Sam Black, Seraphina, Luca) and Michael (Nora Leerhsen, Viola) and his cousin Alfio Crema in San Jose, California. Lorenzo was born at home, on Prior Street in Vancouver to Italian parents from Treviso, Italy, Gottardo and Ginevra. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Mario and sister Josephine. He had a great childhood growing up in the East End of Vancouver where he made lifetime friendships including the Prior Street gang. Lorenzo attended Strathcona Elementary and Vancouver Technical Secondary schools and was a talented athlete, playing lacrosse, soccer, baseball and basketball. He played on many championship teams including the winners of the 1949 Minto Cup for lacrosse. He was a partner in a successful plumbing and heating business with his good friend Larry Politano. His passions included vegetable gardening, watching sports (loved boxing, the Yankees and any teams with Italians), history, daily walks and spending time with his family. An original foodie, he was always ready to try something authentic and loved Italian and Chinese food. Lorenzo was proud of his family, his Italian heritage and of being a Canadian. He will be missed for his fierce love and his tomatoes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 28th at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 525 Campbell Ave, Vancouver, Rev.
