Louie Lee

Louie Lee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 92. Born on July 14, 1926 to Dora and Tom Matthewman, Louie spent most of her formative years in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England. She married the love of her life, Jim Lee in 1951. They moved to Calgary in 1952 and Louie quickly established a successful career with the law firm of Macleod, Riley, McDermid Dixon. For 37 years she worked as a Legal Secretary to Ken Dixon, QC until his death in 1982. After which she worked with Ken’s son Gordon Dixon, QC. Louie retired from the firm in 1990. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family near and far, as well as all who came to know her. A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with her brother, Archdeacon Ronald Matthewman officiating. Memorial donations in Louie’s name will be gratefully accepted by the Matthewman Charitable Foundation, 1765 Stanton St., LaSalle, ON, N9J 3H3 or the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Staywell Manor for their comfort and compassion over the past few years.
