Obituary of Mr. William Albert Ermter
ERMTER, Albert William “Bill” It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bill Ermter announces his passing at home in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, June 29, 2018. Bill was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and lived his early years there until his family relocated to Calgary in 1944. Bill graduated from Western Canada High School in 1953. He worked with AGT from 1957 to 1965 and was frequently on loan to teach courses at SAIT. Bill attended the University of Alberta and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in the fall of 1974. He became an instructor and department head of the Electronics Department at SAIT, retiring in 1991. Bill proudly wore the nickname “Early Squirrely Ermter”, given to him by his long-time neighbours, as he was always up doing weekend projects by 7:00 a.m. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marilyn; his daughters, Cynthia (David) Dores and Kristine (Mario) Vargas Solis; his grandchildren, Alexander, Ashley, Alessia and Alejandro. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Jack (Darlene), Bob (Joanie) and Roy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Gertrude. A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to STARS Air Ambulance (https://foundation.stars.ca/AB-tributegift).
