Mathias Antonius Peter Thijssen

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 28, 2019 at the age of 91. Husband of 64 years to Jacqueline Thijssen. Father of Fred (Monica), Tony (Christine) and Lizanne Santantonio (Frank). Cherished Opa to Mathew (Alicia), Sean (Danielle), Daniel (Natalie) and Celine (Shane). Great-Opa to Evelyn. Co-founder of Thyssen of Galt (1971). Member of St. Gregory's Parish for 48 years and active member of The Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, Probus Club and The Ancient Mariners canoe club. Special thank you to all our friends and family for their love and support and the kind and caring staff at Riverbend Retirement home. Separated for 8 days from his beloved wife, he has now joined her in heaven to watch over us all. Till we meet again. We love you. A funeral visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home (96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge) on Monday, April 1st, 2019 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm (Prayers at 8:30pm). A funeral mass will follow on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 at St. Gregory's Church (10 St. Gregorys Drive, Cambridge) at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the Alzheimer's Society.
