Shelley Theresa Lippert

Shelley Theresa Lippert, 62 of Keremios, B.C. passed away from complications of hip replacement surgery, on February 3, 2019. Holland her son and Maggie, her sister were by her side. Shelley was born in Kitchener, Ontario to Gerritje (Carrie) Buitenhuis and Richard Lippert. She also lived in Cawston, BC; St. John’s, Newfoundland as well as Cambridge, Toronto and Brantford, Ontario. Shelley lived in Toronto where she resided for 20 years prior to moving to the Keremios- Cawston, BC area in 2006 . At an early age, Shelley showed her artistic flair and was never without paper and pencil. She sketched fashion drawings on any available paper and learned to sew at age 10. Her dream was to be a designer and artist. Shelley became both and much more. Shelley was a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Women’s Studies. Shelley was a textile designer and artist of international renown. During the 70’s, Shelley became the first women textile designer for Harding Carpets and petitioned them for equal pay which made her a pioneer in the predominantly male field. During the 80’s and 90’s Shelley designed textiles in Toronto. Her custom floor coverings graced the floors of grand homes across Canada. She was an accomplished painter and fabric artist. Her last show was at the Penticton Art Gallery where she exhibited in the eRacism exhibit from July to September 2018. She was creative at everything she did, whether it was textile design, fashion design, interior design, painting and drawing; her amazing eclectic style always shone through. Her greatest creation was her son, Holland Potash, 20, of Cawston BC. She is survived by her siblings Richard Lippert (Bev) of Waterford, Ontario; Maggie Lippert (Mark), of Boulder, Colorado; David Lippert of Pt. Elgin, Ontario and Veronica Saady (Chris) of Gleason, Wisconsin. Shelley is also survived by her nieces, Cori Gonzales, Brittany Eisert and Mariska Vincent as well as her nephews, Steven Lippert, Will Eisert and Skip Saady. She will be missed by all of her Aunts, cousins, grandnieces and one surviving Uncle as well as her friends and neighbors. Shelley is survived by her ex-husband; Holland’s father, Dr. Harold Potash and his family. Shelley’s ashes will be interred next to her beloved Mother, Carrie, at Mount View Cemetery in Cambridge, Ontario on Saturday June 15th, 2019 at 11:00am followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony which will be held at T. Little Funeral home in Cambridge from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to a local Women’s Shelter. She will always shine brilliantly in our hearts like a diamond girl.
