Wallace M. Sychak III

Wallace Michael Sychak III, 85, of Camp Hill, passed away August 4, 2019 in Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by his entire family. He was born March 11, 1934 in Lyndora, PA, son of the late Wallace and Marie (Myers) Sychak, Jr. He was a graduate of Butler High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Slippery Rock University. Prior to retirement, he was a Hardware Analyst at the US Naval Depot. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He was an advocate for Veteran care and benefits. He enjoyed watching and playing all sports but especially enjoyed golf, Pirate baseball, Steeler football, and the Penguins. He also loved betting on the horses. He enjoyed quiet times traveling in the car, while taking in the beauty of nature. He loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg and VFW Post 7530 of Mechanicsburg. Wallace will be remembered for his humor and infectious laughter, spending time with family and friends and being a good friend to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his sister, Janet Sychak, his brothers, Robert and Donald Huslinger. Survived by his wife of 36 years, Wilma Jean Sychak, son, Bret Michaels-Sychak, his wife Kristi, daughters, Michele and Nicole Sychak, grandchildren, Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Bleu Michaels. Stepchildren; Dr. Kevin McCracken, his wife Dr. Laura McCracken, Karen Palmer and Kathy Pinho, Her husband William, step grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Bryan, Hannah, Sarah and Matthew McCracken, Cody and Cole Palmer, Billy, Brittany and Brad Pinho. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 19, 2019 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Pike, Camp Hill, PA, with visitation from 9-11 and the service to immediately follow. He will be buried with Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery following the service and everyone is invited to attend. There will also be a wake, with details and directions to be given after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to either St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church or National Philanthropic Trust for Life Rocks Foundation (for Veterans). Please come dressed as you are, this is not a formal occasion but a party to celebrate Wally's life and legacy. If you have a Steeler, Pirate or Penguin jersey, please feel free to wear it as Dad would have loved that.
