Obituary of Carl Dwaine Brown
Carl Dwaine Brown, late of Regina, Saskatchewan and formerly of Arcola, Saskatchewan, passed away at Regina on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Carl was born to Jim and Neva Brown, December 25, 1930 in Arcola. After spending his younger years in the south Arcola area, he married Violet May Williams on October 17, 1953. Carl enlisted in the army in January 1954 and was sent to serve in the Korean War shortly thereafter. While he was in Korea his first daughter was born Arcola. He continued to serve in the army and was stationed in several camps including Truro, Nova Scotia, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Camp Shilo, Manitoba. During this time, five more children were born to complete their family of eight. In 1965 Carl and Vi moved to the family farm, three miles south of Arcola. Carl farmed grain and cattle for many years. In 1990, they sold the farm, retired and moved into Arcola. Carl helped Vi with her business adventures and also had a few of his own. After retiring he also drove fuel truck for the Co-Op and was a Commissionaire for the RCMP in Carlyle. After retirement they enjoyed many winters in Victoria, B.C. and summers at a seasonal site at Kenosee Lake. After Vi passed, Carl moved into the Golden West Apartments where he enjoyed the company of the other residents. Then, after heath problems, he moved to Regina into Independent Living in College Park II where he resided until his death. Dad enjoyed curling and attended many world curling events and Briers. You could also walk into his home and find a Blue Jays game on. Everyone who knew Carl said they would always remember his smile. He was a quiet man but was loved and will be missed by his family. Carl is survived by daughters, Debra (Cal) Martin, Sherry (Ken) George, Cindy (Doug) Wheeler, Sandy (Keith) Hage; daughter-in-law, Linda Brown; son-in-law, Murray Mills; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Violet in May 2003; son, Kenneth in February 2017; daughter, Jody in March 2018. A private family interment will be held in the Arcola Cemetery. If friends so wish, donations in memory of Carl may be made to the Arcola Cemetery. Arrangements in care of the Orsted Funeral Home (Carlyle)
