IN THE CARE OF
Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery
Alice Heppler went peacefully to meet our LORD on October 2nd at Hospice of the Valley -
LUND Family House. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Butch)
Heppler, son in law, Robert Reichart, and brother, Dillon Seymore.
Alice was a devote Christian and active member of the Village Chapel. Her warm
compassionate presence drew many people to her and created lifelong friendships.
She was born in 1932 to Duffie J. Seymore and Greta Seymore (nee Edmonds) of Monticello,
Arkansas. She and her brother Dillon were raised on a small farm. Life then could be hard, and
often she helped the family out by working in the cotton fields.
At 19 she married Butch and so began the adventures of military life.
Butch was in the Air force (SMSGT) and assigned to many different bases here and abroad.
Being a small town girl from Arkansas, Alice was in total awe when they visited big cities like
Chicago, never before, seeing so many people in one place, and such tall buildings & Sky
scrapers. Where ever they landed, Alice turned the assigned housing into a welcoming family
home.
Alice and Butch became a family with the births of son, Ronald, and daughter, Duffie. In 1972,
Mesa, AZ became their final destination. In 2001 they retired to Sunland Village East, Mesa, AZ
Alice and Butch were active members of the Sage Brush Squares which involved many trips
and camp outs around the country in their RV. Alice delighted in being a member of Sunland
Village “Red Hatters” aka the “Dazzling Desert Dolls”
All who knew her, admired her beautiful smile, humor, and boundless energy and enthusiasm.
She would give freely, and without hesitation to help out a friend in need. She was beloved by
all who knew her and had the great pleasure of sharing in her life.
Above all, she could have been awarded the “Most Devoted Grandmother/Great
Grandmother” of all time! She has left a lasting legacy to her family of what it is liked to be truly
loved, and valued for who you are.
She never hesitated to share her time, attend all their events, lend an attentive ear, or share
sage advice. Always an inspiration, she has shape us all, in some way, to be who we are today.
With are hearts full of sorrow we say so long to this beautiful spirit who will continue to live on
through all of us.
Ronald (Dawn) Heppler, Duffie (Bob deceased) Reichart, Lauren Heppler, Austin (Morgan
Wachowski) Heppler; their mother, Kandice Heppler. Jason (Danie) Reichart, Jeremy (Christina)
