Carol Ann Abernethy

Carol Ann Abernethy, age 67 years, died December 3, 2018 at Holmberg House Hospice, Abbotsford B.C. Born in Alberta, Carol was re-settled as a child to Chilliwack B.C., where parents Art and Kay Harms raised their five children. After completion of high school in Chilliwack, Carol completed a Registered Nurse Program at Vancouver General Hospital. In later years, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of the Fraser Valley. Carol retired as a Community Mental Health Nurse in Chilliwack B.C. in early 2011, after 36 years of service in Nursing. Carol married Brent Abernethy in 1974. The couple had remained residents of Chilliwack, and raised two sons Joe and Graeme Abernethy. Pre-deceased by parents Art and Kay Harms, Carol is survived by spouse Brent Abernethy, sons Joe Abernethy and Graeme (Gina) Abernethy, grandson Emile Abernethy, siblings Joan (Colin) O’Connor, Gord (Sharon Treanor) Harms, Wendy (John) Nurcombe, Greg (Alice Kloosterboer) Harms, brothers-in-law Paul Abernethy and Scott Gowen. Special thanks is extended to Dr. John Chow (Chilliwack), Dr. Anagha Gurjal (B.C. Cancer Agency), Staff at Holmberg House (Hospice) in Abbotsford B.C. In lieu of flowers, a donation, if intended, to a Hospice Care Program in a location of one’s choice would be preferred.
