Obituary of Frederick Sugden Hawes
Sunday, October 21, 2018, Frederick S. Hawes passed away at the age of 77 with his family by his side in Agassiz, BC. Fred was born March 30, 1941, in Vancouver BC and grew up in West Vancouver. In his youth he was part of the Kitsilano Boys’ Band and later entered his banking career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce until his retirement in 1996. On October 24, 1968 he married Jeannette Dyck. They adopted and raised two children, Taya and Roanan. They retired in the community of Harrison Hot Springs. Fred will be remembered for his humor, creativity, big smile and open heart towards all people. He respected those most who beat to their own drum and challenged the status quo. Wildly curious and adventurous, he reminded us of the healing power of nature, to respect its’ natural beauty and inquire into the many mysteries of life. He impressed upon his family to question assumptions and follow their hearts stressing the most important things are your word, loyalty and love. He was beloved by all. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jr. and mother, Margaret, brother, Tim (Marie). He is survived by his sister Louise, wife Jeannette, children Taya (Keith) and Roanan, grandson Christian, in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday November 18th 1PM at All Saints Anglican Church in Agassiz followed by a celebration of life reception at The Fraser River Lodge, Agassiz. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to the Aboriginal Youth Mentorship Program in Chilliwack. www.stologiftshop.com/fhawes Tel: 604-819-7903 In loving memory, the Hawes Family
