IN THE CARE OF
Henderson's Funeral Homes & Crematorium
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother June at the age of 64. Mom was very strong, with a zest for life and a great sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Mom was born in Chilliwack BC on the family farm and graduated from Chilliwack Senior High school where she was one of the top athletes. She later went on to UBC where she graduated with a Bachelors degree finding a teaching job at Clearbrook Secondary. After 4.5 years there, she met her husband Cliff and moved back to the family farm where she ran the farm while raising 4 boys. Once her children were more independent she went back to teaching at Highroad Academy which enabled her to pursue her passion for teaching learning disabled students. Later branching off to continue this passion as a private mobile teacher.
Mom was heavily involved within the community; president of Hobby hill committee, then as chair of PAC and president of DPAC, member of Camp River Ladies Circle, and wearing many hats within the Rosedale United church.
June is survived by her sons Aaron (Noella), Darryl (Tanya, grandchildren Cesily, Felicity, Emmett, Adeline), Ryan (Shahrzad, granddaughter Natalie) and Tyson, her father Norm Standeven, her brothers Bob (Elva) and Bruce (Lila). Predeceased by her husband Clifford, mother Joyce and brother Ed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Main St Church, 9325 Main St, Chilliwack, on Monday June 25, 2018 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the Camp River Hall, 50246 Camp River Road, Rosedale around 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Camp River Community Hall Society, Rosedale United Church or a charity of your choice.
