IN THE CARE OF
Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home
Patrick Sheridan Dunn, 85, passed away Monday, January 28th, 2019.
He is survived by his sister Pauline, his three sons Brian, Shaun and Rory, three grandchildren Carmen, Rylan and Taylor, and his four great grandchildren Max, Koen, Rhys and Weston. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
After completing training as a Surveyor in 1953 he worked with the Federal Government on the Columbia River Treaty. (They worked on the location of the Mica Dam and the feasibility of diverting the Columbia River into the Fraser River to aid Canada’s negotiations with the Americans. See: historylink.org essay# 10461).
He joined the BC Ministry of Highways in 1956 and became a District Manager at the age of 29 in 1962. He was a lifelong champion of and builder of Provincial infrastructure, and his work with the BC Ministry of Highways took him to every corner of the Province. His last posting for the Ministry of Highways was as Manager of the Chilliwack Highways District which to his great delight, involved him in the construction of the Coquihalla Hwy project.
Throughout his career, Pat was also a stalwart Rotarian. One of the few to reach 50 years of membership, he was involved in Rotary clubs and their projects, where ever his work took him.
For his family, and his many cherished friends, colleagues and acquaintances, there will be a Memorial Tea Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack, BC.
