Obituary of William "Bill" Allen Brown
The family of Bill Brown is deeply saddened to announce his unexpected passing on Friday June 14, 2019. To quote him “I am 77 years old and I have had a great life”. His love of family coupled with his strong sense of character and knowing he had our back was a constant in the lives of his wife, daughters, grandsons, son in laws and grand daughter in law. He was a self-made man whose greatest pride was taking care of his family and family vacations and family dinners. He was also, as an accountant, ruled by numbers and could tell us (and did) how many kms he rode his bike either daily, yearly or since the original purchase date which he also still had the receipt for. He loved knowing how many days in a row he had gone to the gym. He also never paid a cent of interest to any bank since 1985! He was a great friend and an excellent listener and someone we all went to for support. His first trip to Maui in 1972 changed all of our lives as that was his home away from home. He loved sun tanning and the friendships and laughter and memories that all of those years brought on Kamaole Beach II in Kihei. He always stated that his BBQ could never start without a beer and we don’t think it ever did. He was a life long fan of NFL football and Nascar. He took great pride in being fit and loved going to the gym every day and meeting up with everyone. The greatest impact on his life was meeting and loving Joan. They met when they were 16 and were married for over 58 years. They shared every adventure, happiness, sorrow and were constant companions. Their joint love of Maui and friends and family was defining in their life and their decision making. Family dinners at home were what we all looked forward to. They were loud and funny and engaging and put smiles on our faces that day and for many more days to come. His love and pride and support and friendship to his grandsons Justin, Nick, Blake and Eric changed their lives. They loved their Papa and he was so proud of the deep connection and friendship he had with each of them. For his daughters Lisa and Tracy he was our Dad that taught us how to ride a bike, gave us our first dog, swam with us in the ocean, smiled at us on our wedding day and held our children on the day that they were born. He was truly someone we knew we could count on and we always knew he loved us and was proud of us. As our family expanded this impact extended to our spouses Gary, Rob and Rachael. He was truly proud to be their family. He was a good man and he will be missed forever. Aloha.
