Doris S. Walsh

Doris S. Walsh (nee Singer) of Deptford, NJ passed away peacefully on June 7, 2019 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Olga Singer, her beloved husband Edmund M. Walsh, her devoted daughter Nancy M. Walsh and her brother Robert Singer. She is survived by her children, Michael J. Walsh and Patricia W. Hartigan and her loving grandchildren, Jake, Lauren and Michael Hartigan. Doris was born in Audubon, NJ, raised in Oaklyn, NJ and settled back in Audubon after she married. Doris was affectionately known as “Dar” to her children. Dar loved the Jersey shore and particularly Sea Isle City, where she designed and built a year round family home. She loved the great outdoors including gardening in her yard, fishing and boating at the shore, backyard cookouts and relaxing on her porch. After her retirement from administrative work in the medical field, she traveled the world with her brother Bob, made numerous trips to Florida with Curley and loved playing mahjongg with her friends at the clubhouse. Spending time with her children and grandchildren created some of the fondest memories for everyone including cheering from the sidelines, planning a family vacation or having everyone over for dinner. She was well known for her Christmas morning breakfasts and decorated table settings. When receiving a holiday card or gift from her, you would always get a “Dar’s Dittie”, a rhyming poem made especially for the occasion. The “Dittie” meant as much as the gift. Remembering her will bring a smile to many as she was always laughing at something, even before she shared what it was. Her ability to find humor made spending time with her memorable and spontaneous. She will truly be missed. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Wednesday June 12, 2019 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home 226 W. Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. John Church 809 Park Avenue, Collingwood, NJ 08108.
