Obituary of Jeanette Marie Prather
Jeanette Prather, 81, of Peyton, CO escaped her earthly bounds peacefully and entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. Jeanette was born to Dave and Ella Weimer on April 3, 1938 in Rupert, Idaho. Jeanette graduated from Wiley High School in 1956 and then graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in 1960. Jeanette was working at Home Light and Power in Greeley when she met the love of her life. She married Robert (Bob) Prather in February of 1962 in Greeley. After marriage, Jeanette went to work for Judge Carpenter as his personal clerk at the District Court where she enjoyed every minute of the job. The young couple moved to Boulder while Bob attended school. They had two wonderful children; Conrad Scott (Skip) and Jonelle Kay (Joni). After graduating from pharmacy school in 1969, Bob moved their family to Belton, MO. While Bob worked as a new pharmacist and studied for medical school admittance, Jeanette made a warm home for her husband and children. The family returned to Colorado moving to Colorado Springs in 1971 where they raised their family. Jeanette was an avid gardener, loved to play the piano, fabulous cook, supportive wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and trusted friend. She also worked outside the home as a church secretary, business partner and co-owner of Rockrimmon Drug and Boutique and retired after 25 years as a secretary at the Pikes Peak YMCA. Jeanette served as a church pianist and organist, board member, bible study leader, and youth group leader at Vista Grande Church of God. She was also a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church where she attended ladies bible study for many years. Jeanette loved to travel and enjoyed visiting Alaska, Hawaii, California, Florida, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia. She enjoyed seeing the beauty of God’s creation and taking in the sites everywhere she was able to visit. Jeanette kept a journal and there she recorded her prayers asking for God’s presence through every struggle and trial. She also wrote of her joys and answered prayers. Her journal is a testament to her faith in the Lord. It was her faith that gave her the courage to face her disease with grace, never losing her sweet spirit. Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 57 years; Bob Prather, son; Skip Prather, daughter; Joni (Chuck) Wallace, brother Robert (Sara) Weimer, granddaughter, Kaylee (Robby) Owen, grandson, HN Tyler Wallace and great grandsons Brantley and Ryker Owen. Jeanette’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Village Seven Presbyterian Church located at 4040 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs starting at 1:00 pm. A public visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm prior to funeral services. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in honor of Jeanette to Brookdale Hospice 7222 Commerce Center Dr. Suite 100, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 or Village Seven Presbyterian Church Building Fund 4040 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, CO 80917. Burial will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Yuma Cemetery located off of County Rd 39 & Rd G in Yuma, CO.
