Shelby Ann Garcia

Shelby Ann Garcia, a loving mother and dear friend, peacefully passed away on June 10th, 2019, amongst family and close friends. Born in Somerset Pennsylvania on May 21st, 1968, she was the daughter of Timothy Walker and Mary Stumpf. At a young age, she moved to California with her mom, where she would begin to plant her roots and develop into a strong, independent woman. She graduated from Loma Linda Academy in 1986 and worked mainly in administration throughout the years, culminating to her most recent position, Admin Assistant III at UCI Department of Neurological Surgery. However, those close to her would tell you that her favorite position/title ever was Mom. On February 28, 1991, she would marry her former husband and start a family of her own. She would go on to have 2 sons: Andrew Garcia and Michael Garcia Jr. Nothing would bring her more joy than spending time with her children and celebrating their successes. She was the true definition of mother and always ensured both her sons were loved and cared for. As a devoted member of her AA program, Shelby showed the strength and will power to recover from her addiction while also helping countless other members along the way. Most would agree that she was a source of joy, compassion, and inspiration to all involved in the program. Even facing tragedy, she was able to remain composed and thrive in the face of adversity. She remained a beacon of light even in the darkest of times and the program will be forever impacted by her involvement. Shelby was treasured by many close friends. She was often described as a caring, free spirited, woman of strength, class, and integrity. She was priceless to those who were lucky enough to call her a friend. Some would even call Shelby their “favorite”, to which she would playfully reply “I better be.” Her laugh, smile, and sense of humor were contagious and she will be terribly missed by all who knew her. She will continue to watch over and help all of us, just as she did during her time on this earth. Shelby is survived by the father of her children, Mike Garcia, her parents, Tim Walker and Mary Stumpf; siblings, Matt Stumpf, Greg Stumpf, and Shelly Ketron; son, Michael Garcia Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her life celebration service will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 at 10am. There will be an hour viewing prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary. A private burial ceremony will take place after the conclusion of the service.
