Hertis H. Boyles
February 2, 1932 – June 10, 2019

Hertis H. Boyles, of Kokomo, MS, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, June 10, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Kokomo and had been a resident of Illinois for 39 years before returning home 27 years ago. Hertis was a member of Mathon Masonic Lodge #8 in Decatur, IL and a Shriner with Ansar Temple in Springfield, IL. He was proud of being a rancher and loved his cattle. Hertis will be remembered as a wonderful storyteller with a delightful sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his wives, Cora Turner Boyles and Katie Andrews Boyles; a son, Jim Boyles; two grandsons, John Waldrop and Eric Boyles; two sisters, Argie Burstein and Emma Lou Mullins and a brother, Glen Boyles. Hertis is survived by a daughter, Joy Waldrop and husband, John; a son, Randy Boyles and wife, Diane; four sisters, Margie Crosby, Virginia Nichols, Bessie Evans and Rachel May and husband, Walter; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. There will be a visitation for Hertis at Shiloh Baptist Church in Foxworth from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2019. The funeral service will follow in the church at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Cowden, IL. In lieu of floral tributes, the family prefers memorials be made in his honor to Shiloh Baptist Church, 91 Shiloh Firetower Road, Foxworth, MS 39483.
