Felker 91, will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:30 PM at McPeters Funeral Directors, followed by a family and friends gathering following the service. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery. Herman Felker passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning June 5, 2019. He was affectionately known by many as Pops. Herman was born on March 22, 1928 to T Z and Mary Felker in Corinth, MS. He graduated from Corinth High School. He was a farmer and then turned to working for the Postal Office in Melrose Park, IL. Wanting to get back closer to home, they returned to Memphis, TN with the Post Office. They moved back home to Corinth, MS after his retirement. They attended Berclair Church of Christ in Memphis, TN. And Fraleys Chapel in Kendrick. He married his sweetheart, Jonnie Mae Rickman on August 27, 1950. Jonnie preceded him in death in April of 2017. They were married for 67 years. To this union was born only one child, Anthony (Tony) Micheal Felker. Pops was at every high school and college game that Tony played. He was a staple at Harding College games in the fall from 1969-1973. He loved to watch Tony play. Once Tony graduated from Harding he started coaching at Harding Academy in Searcy until 1982 when he moved to Dallas, TX to work at Dallas Christian School. Pops was very proud of his son the player but also his son the coach. He didn’t miss a game if at all possible. Herman loved fishing, duck hunting, and wood working. He was quite talented in making several pieces of furniture for family and friends as well as other craft items. Give him a picture and he would do his best to make it for you! He was a jokester. He would play a “trick” on you and just laugh and have so much fun. Loved his laugh and his smile which both will be missed. Pops loved his family more than anything. Tony married Kay Patton in July of 1973. They had two children, Micheal James (wife Sandy) and Emily Ann (husband Sean). He attended every ballgame he could that Micheal and Emily played in as well as concerts, plays, and any other activity they were involved in! His grandchildren were the apple of his eye until his great grandchilderen arrived. His five great grands are Hewson and Adele Felker; Hayden, Logan Brooke, and Miles Hudkins. Herman was preceded in death by his wife Jonnie, mother and father; his brothers, William, Tommy, Clyde, Wilson and his sisters, Mae Dell Ross, and Lola Mae Morse. He is survived by one sister, Sue Thompson; his son Tony Felker and wife Kay; grandson, Micheal Felker and wife Sandy; granddaughter, Emily Felker Hudkins and husband Sean; great grandchildren, Hewson and Adele Felker, Hayden, Logan Brooke, and Miles Hudkins along with a multitude of nieces and nephews. Pops you will be missed by all of us! Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcpetersfuneraldirectors.com for the Felker family.
