IN THE CARE OF
Courtice Funeral Chapel
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles Jeffrey Hazzard, in his 96th year. Charles/Papa passed away peacefully with his daughter Elaine by his side at the Sunnybrook Veterans Center, Scarborough on August 2, 2019 at 6:20am.
Charles was a loving husband to Marion (Palmer) Hazzard (pre-deceased), loving father to his 4 children, Loretta Lee, Maureen Willis, Elaine Hazzard, and Kenneth Hazzard. Loving grandfather to his 7 grandchildren Ryan Lee, Jason Lee (predeceased), Ray Cochrane, Sheila Willis, Crystal Robinson, Jessica Hazzard and Monica Hazzard and his 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Makie, Zack, Aria, Aleea and Ava.
Charles was born in November 1923 and was the youngest of 8 children. He and his family lived on a farm in Silver Water, Manitoulin Island. Before joining the Second World War, Charles worked for a short time in the mines of Virginia Town where he met his wife Marion who happened to be visiting her Uncle at the time. In his spare time, you would find him tinkering in his garage building something for one of his children or grandchildren. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to neighbours and friends and taking care of the local wildlife.
Papa will be sadly missed by many.
Charles was laid to rest with his wife Marion, on August 10th at the Bowmanville Cemetery with family in attendance.
Family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Center, Scarborough for making his journey a peaceful and happy one.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, September 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Bowmanville Legion on King Street. Memorial donations to the Sunnybrook Veterans Center would be appreciated.
