Obituary of Penney Charlotte Paxton
Penney was born in Denver, CO to Lucy (Romero) and Buell Ed Nielsen and was welcomed home by her brothers Gene, Billy, Bobby and Chris. She loved to visit her grandmother and uncles in Conejos and had many fond memories of those times. She attended school in Denver and worked after leaving high school to help her mother support the family. Penney moved to Yampa in the early 1990’s and eventually to Oak Creek. It was in Oak Creek where she met the love of her life, Ed Paxton. Penney and Ed were married on January 18, 1997 in Oak Creek and she quickly became a beloved member of the Paxton family and the community of Oak Creek. Penney worked primarily as a housekeeper, retiring in 2017 from the Grand Resort in Steamboat Springs. Penney was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her husband Ed, 6 children, 14 grandchildren, along with a large extended family and many, many friends. Penney left us on October 18th after a brave, hard fought battle with colon cancer. Memorial donations may be made to Northwest Colorado Health and Hospice, the Jan Bishop Cancer Center in Steamboat Springs or the American Cancer Society all in care of Grant Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Oak Creek Cemetery with a potluck to follow at the Colorado Bar and Restaurant.
