Katherine E. Barros

Katherine Elizabeth (Raimo) Barros, age 67, of New Bedford, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 30, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of her beloved husband, Roland R. Barros, with whom they shared 15 years of marriage. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Loretta (Colsh) Raimo, but had been a New Bedford resident for over 40 years. She was employed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician at Southcoast Health System for over 35 years. She dedicated 10 of those years to fighting cancer at Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care in Fairhaven. She was a loving mother and is survived by her sons, David Oikarinen and his wife Stephanie of New Bedford, Daniel Barros of Los Angeles, CA; her sisters Lorraine, Rosemarie, and her brother John as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren; Alexa, Nathan, and Noah. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 10:00AM in Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, 884 Kempton St. New Bedford, followed by burial in Saint John’s Cemetery, 664 Allen St., New Bedford. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd.,Dartmouth.
