Obituary of Byron H. Bonang
BONANG, Byron Harris, 59 of Dartmouth passed away at home on Monday, October 22nd. Born in Halifax he was the son of Frances (Conrod) and the late Harris Bonang. Byron was a taxi driver for Bob’s Taxi for over 35 years. He was an amazing story and joke teller, inventor, jack of all trades, cook, music and boxing enthusiast, billiard player and a gentle giant. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. His ‘happy place’ was at the camp at Porter’s Lake where he spent many years boating, fishing, gardening and hosting family get togethers. Byron is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Elaine Gardner; step daughter, Danielle (John) Bonnar , Dartmouth; grandson, Landen; brother Mark, Dartmouth; sister Penny Ascroft (Robert Moussai), Toronto ; niece, Emily Ascroft, Toronto; nephew, Allan Ascroft, Toronto; Uncle, Lionel Conrod, Dartmouth; Aunt, Lily Conrod, Dartmouth. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 7-9pm with a Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 29 at 1pm, both in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Interment at a later date.
