Ford Dale Stinson
February 14, 1937 – June 8, 2019

STINSON, Ford Dale – 82 of Dartmouth, passed away in the Dartmouth General Hospital after a very short battle with cancer with his loving family by his side, June 8, 2019. He was the second son of the late Oliver and Pansy (Curry) Stinson. Ford left home at 16, worked in the nickel mines at age 20, joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served proudly for 32 and a half years, upon his retirement from the service, he was employed with Builder Cleaners and others for a number of years and then retired fully. He is survived by his wife; Jeannette (Emberly), son in-law; Lionel (Daniel) Deschaines, sister in-law Shirley Emberly, niece; Karen Emberly, great niece; Amanda Bellestaros Emberly, and nephews; Gordon, Greg and Scott Daniel of Port Hope, Ontario and his furry companion, his cat Digger. He was predeceased by his daughter; Heather Ann (Stinson) Deschaines, brother; Hewie Stinson, sister in-law; Ruth (Emberly), brother in-law; Ralph Emberly, niece; Susan and her husband; David Briggs, sister; Alice and brother in-law; Ken Daniel of Port Hope, Ontario. The family is very greatful to the Palliative care unit, and all staff from the Dartmouth General Hospital fourth floor west who treated Ford with dignity and kindness. In keeping with Ford’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service, cremation has taken place under the direction of A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. A private interment at a later date. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, SPCA, Bid a While animal shelter, Hope for wildlife Society or a charity of choice.
