Barry Allan Sherman passed away July 2, 2019 at the age of 59. He was born July 16, 1959 in Clifton Forge, VA.
He was a graduate of Oakwood High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University.
He began his career as a high school substitute teacher and then as a social worker for at risk teenagers. Later in life, Barry started and built a painting and contracting business.
Barry found his inspiration in music, the many books he read and several classic movies. And he could often be found outside improving the landscape and flower gardens of his childhood home.
Community service was a passion of Barry’s and he lent his support to Rebuild Dayton, Habitat for Humanity, the Miami Valley Literacy Council, Making Christmas Dreams Come True and Saint Vincent DePaul.
Barry was proceeded in death by his mother Beverly. He is survived by his father Allan, his sister Karen Mead (husband Bob, children Westen and Caitlin) and his brother Bo (wife Laura).
Barry was a vocal advocate for the education and support of those suffering from Tinnitus. In lieu of flowers, Barry’s family suggests donations to the American Tinnitus Foundation (www.ata.org).
