Obituary of Lena C. King
It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our dearly beloved mother Lena Cecilia King of Doucetteville on June 4, 2019 in Digby General Hospital at Age 88. Born in Doucetteville, Lena was one of 6 children born to the late John Gardie and Lillian (Amero) Thibodeau. Lena was a devoted full time mother to her children and a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband Gordie, providing total nursing care to him until he lost his battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker and baker. She especially liked making pies, donuts, and jellyrolls. All sorts of goodness came from her oven. Lena enjoyed growing and harvesting her vegetable garden and making pickles for her family. She looked forward to berry picking season and making jams and jellies and other preservers. Her hobbies were embroidery, quilting, and knitting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and did so up until her illness. Music moved her and in her younger years she loved to dance and displayed great rhythm. She was an avid card player and enjoyed the comradeship that a game of cards delivered. Lena was extraordinary friend and was loved for her sense of humor and her keen wit. She relished in sharing a cup of tea and laughter with family and friends. Lena touched all who knew her and her joyful spirit will not be forgotten. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her never failing sense of humor, her joyful disposition and her total commitment and dedication to the care of her beloved husband. Lena was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Doucetteville and Holy Cross Church, Plympton. Lena is survived by her brother, Pius (Grace) Thibodeau, Doucetteville; sister Evelyn Melanson, Doucetteville; children Larry King (Suzanne Duran), Doucetteville, Judy (Guy) LeBlanc, Belliveau’s Cove, Sharon (Gilles) Hostal, Ingonish Beach, Gayle Belliveau, Doucetteville, Janice (Randy) Thibault, Doucetteville, David (Josette) King, Sissiboo, and 14 Grandchildren Gordie, Guy, Katrina, Leanne, Andre, Natasha, Tracy, Troy, Craig, Kirk, Joel, Nicole, Jason, Chad, and 13 great grandchildren.
