Ruth Mary Bull

Ruth Mary Bull, of Lake Midway, Digby Co., daughter of Joseph and Margaret Arthur (both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), passed away on April 23, 2019. Ruth will be missed by her son, Sam; her brothers, Robert and Stephen; her brothers-in-law, Hank, Charles and Stratton and their families, by her mother-in-law and friend Mary and by her husband and partner in life and art for nearly 50 years, Arthur. She was predeceased by her parents and by her son, Alex. Ruth was an accomplished painter, who studied at the New School of Art in the late 1960’s and continued her vocation throughout her life. She was also a fabric artist, writer and musician, having studied saxophone at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She moved from Pittsburgh to Toronto in 1968, and then from Toronto to Digby Neck, Nova Scotia, together with her family in 1991. Ruth was an avid swimmer and swam in nearby Lake Midway with friends every summer. In respect for Ruth’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. There will be a memorial to celebrate her life and work, date to be announced.
