Betty’s extended family and circle of friends extended from WV, MD, VA all the way to FL. In WV, Betty worked diligently for the police department and managed the bookkeeping and accounting for several churches and small businesses. After moving to MD, she worked for both police departments in Baltimore City and Howard County, all the while continuing her bookkeeping and accounting on the side. Later, she became a licensed real estate broker. Ultimately she rose to become the head of the computer department of Howard County. One of her favorite and longest lasting jobs was as a chef at Dimitri’s Toll House Restaurant and Bar in Catonsville, MD. Betty was married twice. However, her happiest times were with her 2nd husband and love of her life, Joe Burriss. They spent many happy and fulfilled years together until his death in 2005. Betty lived a life full of adventure, surrounded by friends and family who loved her and all of her many talents, including cooking, scuba diving, driving fast cars, playing with Joe’s grandkids, and her dedication with Joe to the local VFW and several churches. She is survived by many extended family members including nieces and nephews, her Godson Matthew, her Goddaughter Heather, and a countless list of friends she has gathered along the way.
