OBITUARY
Arthur "Mike" Harvey Johnson
July 16, 1950 – July 9, 2019
IN THE CARE OF
Dodd Payne Hess Funeral Home
Arthur "Mike” Harvey Johnson, 68, a lifelong resident of Gatewood, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Bowers House in Beckley.
Born July 16, 1950 he was the youngest son of the late Lonnie “Buster” and Freda “Winnie” Johnson. Those left to cherish his memory include sister Janet “Gale” Milam and husband Carl “Curly”, 2 brothers, Lonnie “Bussie” Johnson and wife Drema, and Dennis “DD” and wife Harriet, along with nephews and nieces.
Mike was a retiree of the Construction and General Laborers’ Local Union 453. He had a passion for the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, camping, working with his Massey Ferguson tractor brush hogging and cutting hay or simply just sitting on the front porch watching and waving to his friends and neighbors. When one stopped by to visit you could expect to hear story telling filled with his whole hearted laughter. He truly believed life’s better when you’re laughing.
The Johnson family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 12-1 PM at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM with Pastor Jackie Pittman and Pastor Johnny Pittman officiating. Committal will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Fayetteville.
Nephews Phillip Johnson, Dennis Johnson Jr., Michael Rollins, Brandon Carter, Ron Ward and George Stover will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you send a donation to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
