Dennis Michael Moran

Lt. Col. Dennis Michael Moran, USAF, Ret., of Orlando, Fl. passed away peacefully and comfortably on August 10, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Albert and Velma Moran on October 19, 1937. Upon graduating from the University of Florida he was commissioned into the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He went on to earn a Masters of Aerospace Operations at the University of Southern California. Dennis was a devoted family man. He was married to Shirley Ann Egan, his loving wife, of 52 years. They raised a close-knit family of five children to whom he was an affectionate and supportive father. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and his great smile. Dennis served for twenty years in the United States Air Force. One of his proudest moments was in 1977 when he received the Meritorious Service Medal for his extraordinary contribution to the overall effectiveness and success of the B-1 Air Craft. After retiring from the military, he worked for an additional 13 years at Lockheed Martin in the finance department. The discipline and patriotism that he learned in the Air Force never left him as friends and family will attest. During retirement he loved spending time with his family. He took great pride volunteering for the Air Force Association where he was the VP of Legislative Affairs in the Martin H. Harris Chapter. He was a loyal and dedicated man in all facets of his life. His perfect mantra would be God, Country, Family. Dennis is survived by his siblings, Mary and Jim and five children: Connie, Suzanne (Craig), Cynthia (Peter), Michael, and Sarah (Steve); through whom he received three grandchildren: Phillip, Lauren, and Cole. And also by the Egan family: Carole, Karren, and Raymond. A mass will be offered in Dennis’ honor at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S. Apopka-Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL 32819, with Military Rights on September 10, 2019 at 8:30 am.
