Obituary of Rachel Diane Corbin
Greensboro - Rachel Diane Corbin passed away on May 4, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. Her strength and compassion will continue to inspire and comfort the many people who loved her. Rachel devoted her life and energy to caring for others. She radiated love as a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend. In addition to her closest relationships, she inspired and supported many in her work as a medical social worker and in her advocacy for others living with cancer. Her role as mother, especially, motivated her to embrace every experience she could share with her sons. Rachel’s life was filled with travel, exploration, learning, and always cheering on and encouraging those she loved. Rachel is survived by her husband, Darnley Corbin, and sons Avery and Alden; her parents, Vern and Diane Oberdorff; sisters Amanda (John Adam) Reich, and Marisa Grandel; and nephews Asa Reich, JR Grandel, Hunter Grandel, and niece Cheyenne Grandel; grandfather Vernon Oberdorff, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rachel was also a true friend who many considered a sister. We will be gathering to honor Rachel on May 11 from 4:30-6 pm at Lake Jeanette Marina, 5026 Bass Chapel Rd. Greensboro. Like the butterflies Rachel loved, we ask that friends and family wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Butterfly Run (under register/sponsor link) established by Rachel’s friends (or please join us as a participant): https://butterflyrun.weebly.com/ Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is serving the Corbin family.
