Israel "Jim" Gerstein
August 30, 1924 – September 4, 2019

Israel (Jim) Gerstein, 95, of Fort Lee, died September 4. He was a member of Gesher Shalom, the JCC of Fort Lee, for over 50 years. He was an owner of a vending machine business, FoodMatic Vending, as well as the proprietor of 3 fast food restaurants, Chicken Etc., over the course of his lifetime. He earned his MBA from Bernard Baruch College, on the GI Bill. He was a medic in WW II, helping to liberate concentration camps. Predeceased by his wife, Maxine, of 41 years, he is survived by children, Doryne Davis (Milt), Elyse Terk (Steve), and Barry Gerstein (Amy), 9 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. Arrangements were by Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, Hackensack. Donations can be made to Jewish National Fund, or Jewish War Veterans.
