Obituary of Jane Victoria Brown

IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

Jane Victoria Brown (Hadley), R.N. Age 103 Jane passed gently away on Monday, November 26th at home. She was a proud graduate of the Victoria General School of Nursing. And loved to retell stories of her days as a V.O.N. nurse in Halifax during the early 1940’s. The daughter of the late Edmund and Margaret (McKeough) Hadley of Port Shoreham, she married her “Big Blond Giant”, Alva, and enjoyed many wonderful years together devoted to her family. The care she provided to everyone in her life, as well as her patients, was her passionate calling . Highly dedicated to all those in her life Jane was always there for anyone in need, and eager to be there for others in every way possible. Left to mourn are her daughters Eleanor (David Copus), Diana and special son, Robert. Loving Grandmother to Michael Ross (Maureen), Bedford; Andrew Copus, Australia; Susan Wadden (Rob), Windsor Junction; Adele Copus (Andy Sawler), Dartmouth; Adam Copus (Wendy), Hong Kong. A treasured Great Nanny to Meghan, Heidi and Laura Wadden, Charlotte & Bella Copus, and Daisy & Dylan Copus who provided many hours of happiness for her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. We are all thankful for Diana’s undying devotion and excellent care that allowed Jane to reach her 103rd year. We appreciate mom’s tenant of 30 plus years Isabelle Fougere for the love and support she continually provided to the Brown family. Isabelle is considered like another sister. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Alva Brown and beloved daughter Heather Ross and son-in-law Bill Ross. Jane was the last surviving member of her family of ten other siblings, all of whom she loved deeply, and talked about fondly until her final days. Jane was a very proud Christian. She could recall all the verses of any hymn you could name and loved nothing greater than the sing songs we would hold in her bedroom as she sang and clapped to the rhythm. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Monday December 3rd at Bethany United Church, 2669 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax (at the Armdale Rotary) at 6:30 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be sent to the Cerebral Palsy Association, Cancer Society, or charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.jsnowfuneralhome.com We are comforted to know she is reunited with all the loved ones who have gone before whom she dearly missed and that she is now home, safe in the arms of Jesus.
