IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

Son of the late Ogle William Awalt and Mary Alice (Ettinger) Awalt. Dad passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family early Thursday morning at the QEII Hospital. Dad was born in Boutiliers Point and moved to Timberlea as a young boy and continued to live in his childhood home until his time of passing. Dad is survived by our mother, his wife of 65 years, Joan (Doubleday) Awalt; daughters, Linda Woodbury, Sandra MacDonald (Sonny); son, Harry(Colleen); sister, Bonnie (Ottawa, Ontario). Also missing him will be his ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his son, our brother, Ronald Robert (big Robert)and Roberts wife, Karen and Linda’s husband, his son in-law, Douglas Woodbury. Dad was the last surviving male in his family as he was predeceased by his brothers, Warren, Burchell and Gary; his sisters, Olga and Jeanne. Ronald was a jack of all trades over the years as a Plumber/Electrician, milkman, train track repair, concrete maker, dump truck driver snow plow operator and freight handler. In his younger years, Dad enjoyed going camping, hunting and fishing with his two brothers-in-law, Edward Warnell and Kenny Custance. They we’re classed as the three Amigos who dad will now be joining. He also enjoyed many road trips with his wife and sister in-law, Helen Awalt. A lot of those trips included Edward and his wife, Barbara Warnell. Many weekends were spent at Edward and Barbara’s house with family and friends and in later years Barbara and Edwards cottage (lakelot). In later years, dad loved spending time at his and moms cottage in Mahone Bay. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reception following service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated
