Wallace Harold Roseveare

Wallace Harold Roseveare – It is with a great sense of loss the family of Wally, 87, announces his peaceful passing in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on November 29, 2018. He entered eternal life with his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillian, his family and Rev. Rachael Parker by his side. Wally was born June 22, 1931, in Carman, Manitoba, and raised on the family farm in nearby Sperling. At 21 years old, he was proud to join the Royal Canadian Navy and travel to many ports, including Halifax, where he met “my Lilla.” Wally was a hardworking man, raising a family of five with a successful career in furniture sales at Eaton’s. Wally retired in 1993 and worked part-time at Dalhousie University where he enjoyed meeting students. He volunteered in Spiritual Care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and faithfully visited friends in hospitals and nursing homes over many years. Wally was a past Master and member of the former Atlantic Lodge #103 and, more recently, Fairview Lodge #126 of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia for more than 50 years. He was an active, devoted member of Saint James Anglican Church and held several leadership positions there. True to his roots, he was an avid gardener. Wally was also a curling fan and followed politics as a member of the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia. Wally took pleasure in sitting by the fireplace reading the newspaper, being on the water in his boat fishing for mackerel, playing pool with his grandsons and camping with his family in younger years. Wally’s granddogs and their kisses brought much happiness to him and he claimed Coco as “my dog” while residing in Parkstone. Wally is survived by his wife, Lillian (Webber); Darrell (Susan); daughters Debbie Bright (Brian), Heather, Karen Green (Robert) and Kathleen (Bruce van Feggelen); grandchildren Laura, Joshua, Logan, Shannon, Meaghan, Nicolas, Danielle, Eric and Lillian; brother, John Roseveare, 97, of Virden, Manitoba; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his infant son, Dennis Harold, twin brother of Darrell; cherished grandson, Ian Robert Green; mother, Dorothy Adele (Fletcher) from Brighton, England; father, John Thomas; from Saltash, England; sisters Emma, Adele and Edith; and brothers George, Tom, Jim, Leslie and Charlie. The family sincerely thanks the staff members of Bayshore Home Health and Point Pleasant Way at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Masonic brethren, Rev. Parker and J.A. Snow Funeral Home for their care, support and friendship. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m., Saturday, December 8, and the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, December 9, both at Saint James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax, Rev. Parker officiating. Donations in Wally’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
