It is with deep sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved Mother Betty Florence MacFarlane (nee Bryson). Mom passed away on Sunday June 9. 2019 in Hamilton, in her 97th year. Betty was born on August 3, 1922, in Hamilton to Matthew and Hazel Bryson (deceased). Predeceased by her siblings, Norma (Harold) Heal and Ron (Shirley) Bryson. In 1948 she married John Douglas MacFarlane (deceased 2003). Mom is survived by her adoring children John MacFarlane, Deborah and Paul MacLanders and Douglas MacFarlane. Predeceased by daughter Linda. Loving Grandmother to Douglas MacFarlane, Andrew MacFarlane (Amanda Golden) and Grand Daughter Debbie Sheran and predeceased by grandson Ryan MacFarlane (2002). Great Grandmother to Ryann and Jack MacFarlane and Tyler Heroux. Mom will also be missed by her extended family Christina MacLanders, Lori Balloch and Russ and Mary Charters. She will also be very missed by her faithful furry companion Marley. Mom worked at Westinghouse Canada for many years from where she retired. She was a familiar face at the Tiger Cat Games back in the day where she worked part time at the concessions. She has forever been an avid Tiger Cat fan. Never call her when a game was on, she couldn’t get you off the phone quick enough. She also worked at a number of grocery stores doing her in store demos as well as the HWSB working with children during the lunch programs. Mom was a loving, generous and selfless soul with a heart of gold who always put everyone else before herself. Her family was her 1st love and her friends were always held near and dear to her heart. Mom enjoyed her trips to the casino with her son John. Anyone that met Mom grew to love and respect her. Mom’s sense of humour, her infectious smile, gentle and kind giving nature and her love for everyone she met will forever be remembered. We would like to say a very Special Thank you to Dr. Alipio, Mom’s caring and loving physician who has been a pillar of support to our family. Thank you for your home visits, your encouragement, your love and your concern. Thank you to Dr. Carlisle and the Nephrology staff at St. Joe’s, LHIN and VON for their assistance in coordinating Mom’s at home care and the VON Palliative Care Team who were amazing.
