John Petro

John peacefully passed away on November 1, 2018 at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, at the age of 96. Predeceased by his loving wife, Isabel (2007). Dear father of Roger and his wife Lorri. Proud grandfather to Nicole and her husband Brandon Lapierre and Jeff and his wife Lauren Petro. John’s pride and joy were his great grandchildren, Chase and Robyn Lapierre and Taylor Petro. They always brightened his day and a smile to his face. John is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-laws Catherine Danku of Hamilton, Anne Petro of Welland and Joanne Arvay of Bellville and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Michael and George Petro. John, better known to many as “Poppi”, worked for Union Gas for 25 years as one of their best welders. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at Union Gas. John was a strong man with a gentle heart making many friends over the years and always making time to talk to everyone he met. The family will receive friends at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East on Monday, November 5 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. A private family service and interment will be held. Thank you to the Juravinski Hospital staff for his care. A special thank you to the Staff and Volunteers at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for your kindness and compassionate care provided to John in his time there. You all are truly Angels indeed.
