Katica (Katarina) Jazvac
March 25, 1931 – May 5, 2019

Peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the age of 88.
Predeceased by her husband Josip Jazvac, parents Jela and Ferdo Bene, sister Ana Banic (Josip), brother Ignac Bene (Terezija), mother-in-law and father-in-law Terezija and Mijo Jazvac and many cousins and relatives in Croatia and Canada. Katica leaves behind her son and dearest daughter-in-law Branko and Stephanie. Grandchildren Robert (Katarina), David, Amanda and great-granddaughters Viktoria and Marija. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marica Jazvac (Josip), nieces Mary Ivinac (Frank), Barbara Zrinscak (Mike), Anica Matakovic (Vilko), nephews Ivan Bene (Antonia), Fred Bene (Ursula), Ivan Jazvac (Angela), Frank Jazvac (Mary), Ignac Jazvac, in laws Dorica and Anton Benjak and many relatives and friends in Canada and Croatia. Katica was a very gentle and loving person who was devoted to her family and friends. She loved her community, valued her Croatian heritage and enjoyed her time in the Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Women’s League. A special thank you to the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital.
Visitation at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 4-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, Croatian National Home Building Fund, or the Hamilton Croatian Sports and Community Centre would be appreciated.
