IN THE CARE OF
Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday at the Hamilton General Hospital. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to John and Hannah Hamill and raised alongside siblings Pearle (2017), Frances, Thomas (1958) and James in North Carleton, Prince Edward Island. Patricia spent twelve years teaching grade school in both PEI and Hull, Quebec. In 1963 she married fellow islander Patrick McKenna (1935-2014) in Ottawa before eventually settling in Hamilton. Patricia - known to those closer to her as Patsy - is survived by her four children: Shaun (Liesbeth), Karen (Gary), Gregory and Diane (Eric). To her six grandchildren, Meghan, Kaitlyn, Logan, Ethan, Liam and Abigail, she was known as a thoughtful and incredibly loving Nanny who saved toilet paper rolls for crafts, frequently called just to chat and always had a cupboard full of Bear Paws. Always active, she enjoyed neighbourhood walks and taking classes at Sackville, including cross-stitch and tai chi. She was a woman of strong faith who will be remembered for her kindness, honesty, sharp wit and steel trap memory. Patricia will be greatly missed by her immediate family and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A heartfelt thank you to the staff in 7 West and the ICU at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation will take place at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Wednesday, May 15th from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish, 280 Limeridge Rd. W. in Hamilton, on Thursday, May 16th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Ancaster.
