Zvonko Hlacar

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Zvonko on July 1, 2019 at the age of 83. Beloved husband to Milka of 59 years. Cherished father to Mary Hlacar-Maragno (Carlo) and Mike Hlacar (Natalie). Adored grandfather to Jennifer, Chris, Patrick, Julian, Julia and Matthew. Dear brother of Anka Jambrosic and the late Nikola Hlacar. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada and Croatia. Zvonko retired from Dofasco after 32 years of service. His retirement enabled him to enjoy spending timeless hours working on the farm, celebrating with friends and family by his pool, playing cards and bocce. He cherished the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. His kindness, humour, compassion and generous spirit will be missed by all who crossed his path. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Hamilton General Hospital - ICU West. Special thanks to Dr. Fox-Robichaud, Dr. Kraus, Dr. Sharif and especially the wonderful nurses for their kind care and compassion of our Dad during his last days. As expressions of symapthy donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Holy Cross Croatian Church in Zvonko's memory. Visitation will be held at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday, July 3rd from 2-4 pm and 6-9pm with vigil prayers to be said at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East on Thursday, July 4th at 10am. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery.
