Obituary of Murray S. Harris
Murray S. Harris was born on August 31, 1947 to La, Rita Mae Harris and William Hill at Charity Hospital of New Orleans, Louisiana. Murray was the third son and brother to Edward Harris Jr., Earl Joseph Harris, and Albert (Isaiah Harris). After schooling Murray S. Harris was inducted in the Army in 1967 and soon received his first rank “PFC” Private First Class on February 15, 1969. He received several more honors to include the National Defense service Medal, the Vietnam Compass Medal and last a Combat Infantry man Badge; all which he wore proudly. He was soon discharged and began his service with the United States Post Office as a Mail Carrier. A few years later he met and fell in love with his soul mate Sedonia M. Thompson and her young son Nathaniel Thompson. After courting for a short time, they both decided to grow their family and become as one and welcome four children together, Michael Harris, David Thompson, Jennifer Thompson and last their youngest Murray Harris Jr.(Butterball). Murray and his wife Sedonia were hardworking parents raising their children in New Orleans when his wife was soon called home and he became a widow to raise their children alone. Murray keep putting his best foot forward and tried to be the best father and provider he knew how to be for his children he loved each and every one of them dearly. He continued to be supportive, to give advice, and offer his hand when needed in given situations. He especially loved his time with his grandchildren. Natasia Cooper, Anthony Thompson, Kyron Harris, Jamaal Harris and Jayden Harris and he will continue to smile on them as they journey through their lives. On October 9, 2019, Our Father, Our brother, Our Uncle, Our Brother-In-Law, Our Neighbor, and Our friend; Murray S. Harris fought his last battle to cancer and was called home to be reunited with his loving wife, his parents and younger brother. It is with great sorrow on his passing that he leaves behind his 5 children, 5 grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law along with two nieces, two nephews their wives and children and 5 great nieces and nephews. On this day October 18, 2019, I can say yes, a limb has fallen from our family tree. But we will smile knowing that you are at peace. Until we all meet again on that glorious day, Murray S. Harris rest easy from this day forward for you have crossed the finish line and your journey is complete. You will forever be in our Hearts!
